Southampton staple Barrister's hit the market a few weeks back, and its longtime owners are now explaining their decision to close up shop. Since 1979, Richard 'Digger' McMahon and Michael Ferran have run the Main Street eatery and have deemed their 30-year run a successful one, planning to retire once 'the business is out of their hands'. The restaurant is listed for $4.5 million, and is described as having seats for 136 people and two apartments on the second floor. Listing agent David Saland said a number of potential buyers have looked at the space, including a couple of Manhattan restaurants searching for a seasonal outpost. Saland also said he personally hoped the restaurant would turn into 'something like the Blue Parrot'. Ron! Renée! Bon Jovi! Are you listening?!
