It Happened One Weekend: Bill Brings Surfers' Paradise, More!

1) Beaches across the Hamptons were closed this weekend due to rather gigantic waves from offshore titan Hurricane Bill. Strong swells and rip tides prohibited beach goers from swimming in the Atlantic, as those who got too close were promptly plucked from the water by lifeguards or police passing on ATVs. For surfers, it was worth the summer-long wait. 15-20 foot waves in Montauk sent hundreds flocking to the water near the lighthouse. [CurbedWire]

2) The Goose Creek estate, and its Ziegfeld-esque movie theater, hosted Vogue's Anna Wintour and friends for a screening of upcoming documentary The September Issue on Saturday. On the fashionable guest list: Byrdie Bell, Fabiola Veracasa, Cristina Cuomo, Kelly Klein, Katie Lee Joel, Stephanie Seymour, Jennifer Esposito, Frederic Fekkai, Donna Karan, Christian Siriano and more. Check out Racked's review of the film here. [GofG]
3) Southampton's LOLA Gallery held an opening reception for the "Mystic Heather and Virgin Snow" photography exhibit on Saturday. Pieces from the 'edgy online photo gallery Tiny Vices' are on display through September 10th, with the show including '30 original works ranging from B&W landscape shots to a half-naked woman standing atop a skyscraper'.
