Meanwhile in the Animal Kingdom

First it was sharks, now turtles. The animal kingdom of the East End is having a rough go of it this summer, as evidenced by the 600 pound leatherback turtle that washed up in front of a Springs house on Monday. A necropsy revealed that the gentle giant had recently died following a run-in with some kind of large boat. Another 800 pound leatherback, who we will assume was its friend, was rescued from a conch pot in Gardiner's Bay last week. RIP. [EH Press; previously]
