It Happened One Weekend: Animal Findings, Softball, More!

1) A Curbed Hamptons operative hit the Animal pop-up at the Solé East this Saturday, tasting some of the seven options on the menu from LA. Findings: The apps were the way to go, as the Petit Basque and the BBQ Pork Belly sliders were impossibly good, while bacon and chocolate for dessert was as good as it sounds. Not surprisingly, the regular Backyard dishes didn't hold a candle to their pop-up impostors. Jon Shook will be cooking in the hotel's kitchen through tomorrow night. The countdown until these guys make their East Coast debut is now officially underway. [CurbedWire; previously]

2) The 15th annual ARF (Animal Rescue Fund) Beach Ball took to the sand this Saturday. The sold out event at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club featured a beachside BBQ and the brilliantly named Dancing to Quake, a Motown band. [ARF]
3) The score was Writers 12 - Artists 11 at the annual softball game in Herrick Park in East Hampton. Quoth artist Alec Baldwin: 'I want the game to start earlier, but the writers want to play in the afternoon because they like to drink when they're done'. All in a day's work. [Newsday]
4) The fashion elite stopped by photographer Steven Klein's farm on Saturday for HEAT, a party and auction in honor of the new Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital. Style.com maven Candy Pratts Price co-chaired, and rumors swirled that the indomitable duo of Lindsay Lohan and Courtney Love would show up. Style File will have a full report later in the day.
