Winding country road-esque driveways may be outlawed in Southampton Town soon, as a hearing next week will address concerns from local fire departments. Apparently, the twisting pathways, low trees and narrow gates that seem to be required for all East End mansions are causing some serious damage to fire trucks, not to mention slowing down response times should said mansion be on fire. Elimination of the 'rural look that narrow driveways provide' would go into effect for all new construction and any existing home looking to get building permits. [Newsday]
