Floorplan Porn: Idea House's Basement Full of Good Ideas

As HC&G's 2008 Idea House still lingers on the market now two days shy of its one year anniversary, it seemed like a good time to revisit the Sagg Main Street home. The über-eco-friendly spread is listed for $8.95 million (after a series of chops from a $12.9 million price last summer), and boasts a rather awesome basement. Shunning the typical storage room for a wine cellar that looks eerily like a Left Bank café, the lower level is chock full of random nooks and a rather expressive laundry room. Fun fact: The farmhouse was built in 1860 and was once the home of James Jones, writer of the novel From Here to Eternity. The 1953 movie based on Jones' book is playing in the basement's media room in the listing photos.
