Hoping to see their casino dreams come true, 10 representatives of the Shinnecock tribe ventured to the New York Gaming Summit last week to drum up support for their proposed Long Island 'gaming facility', which recently cleared some government hurdles. While being at the conference didn't actually have any effect on the matter, the Shinnecocks hoped that hanging around with other tribes who have been successful that whole casino-building thing would prove their legitimacy. The Hamptons Casino threat still has quite a climb, as one official said 'gaming prospects [that] have seemed imminent in the past, [have] ended up languishing for decades'. [SH Press; previously]
