PsychHampton: Four East End Villages Deemed 'Troubled'

New, 1 comment

Ah, the summer of 2009: When 'America's Most Troubled Luxury Neighborhoods' takes its place in the Forbes List Hall of Fame. Released on Monday, said list includes a whopping four zip codes (out of twelve) in the Hamptons alone. Sagaponack comes in fourth, followed by Amagansett at fifth, Bridgehampton at sixth, and Southampton takes the tenth spot on a list rife with celebrity addresses. (As for elsewhere on the Island, Old Westbury is thrown in for good measure.) The definition of a 'troubled' town for Forbes is one that saw its number of listings and number of sales at 30-1 or greater in the last 90 days. According to an accompanying article, 'there have been 1,725 listings in these five Long Island communities over the past three months. In this time, there have been only 39 sales.' Ouch.
