It Happened One Weekend: Pétanque, Anyone?

1) Veuve Clicquot's Annual Pétanque Tournament takes place today at Sunset Beach on Shelter Island, but practice rounds popped up all weekend. A Curbed Hamptons operative spotted an official set-up at The Lodge in East Hampton and a crowd getting their bocce on at Wiborg beach. While copious amounts of champagne and heavy balls seem like a dangerous combo, dare we say, trend alert! [CurbedWire]

2) The Parrish Art Museum held its annual Midsummer's Party on Saturday night, the self-proclaimed 'highlight of the Hamptons summer social season'. Attendance at such an event didn't come cheap, as seats were sold in the $1,000-$2,500 range, and tables topped out at $50,000. We expect to see great things from the museum in the next 12 months. 3) East Hampton's Cittanuova will not be taken down by Page Six. In response to a blind item on Friday about Hamptons restaurants pouring 'cheaper booze' into top-shelf bottles, the Italian cafe took to its twitter account to declare its innocence. FYI: 'no phony booze' will be served on the premises. [Page Six/Twitter]
