For Sale: Shiny Plaques for Old Homes

New, 2 comments

For the bargain price of $350, the Quogue Historical Society is now selling 9x12 inch plaques to all homes built before 1902. A part of the town's 350th anniversary celebration, the plaques have no historical value or purpose beyond a reminder that your house is really old. (Something this woman, right, must have just realized.) 'Quogue Village has, on two occasions since 1981, rejected plans to create a historic district in the village', a measure that would protect these plaqued homes and preserve their historical integrity.
