If you hadn't noticed, the Hampton Jitney and Hampton Luxury Liner served as publicity-mobiles for the USA Network last weekend, emblazoned in full-bus ads for the new comedy Royal Pains. We were as confused as anyone as to why the Hamptons was chosen as the epicenter for this ad campaign, but a quick trip over to the USA website cleared everything up.
"When up-and-coming New York doctor Hank Lawson loses everything fighting for the life of a patient, he escapes to the Hamptons with his younger brother, Evan. After making a dramatic medical rescue at a party, Hank inadvertently finds himself the Hamptons' newest on-call doctor. ..."
Didn't see that coming! Despite a vague similarity to Nancy Myers' Hamptons-meets-heart attack film "Something's Gotta Give", it seems that in this show, House Call Hank will be getting into all sorts of new shenanigans on the beach. A good idea in theory, when one considers the distance most towns are from Southampton Hospital, but a good TV show, we'll have to wait and see. If that teaser didn't get you pumped for the the show's June 4th premiere, USA is also holding a Hamptons Getaway Sweepstakes, offering a 4-day stay at Surf Lodge for 2 lucky winners complete with plane tickets, a rental car, shopping at Blue & Cream and dinners at Nick & Toni's and Trata. Oh, and an on-call doctor should you need one.
