Beach Permits Uproar

New, 1 comment

Despite fair warning about the introduction of new beach permits for all East Hampton town beaches, lines were long on Friday and Saturday at Town Hall on Pantigo Road with residents looking to purchase the $25 sticker. For the first time, beachgoers will have to pay annually for the use of town beaches, including Townline Beach and Wainscott Beach in Wainscott; Indian Wells, Atlantic Beach and Napeague Beach in Amagansett; and Ditch Plains Beach, Kirk Park Beach and all other ocean beaches in Montauk. Before this year, residents could purchase a onetime town beach permit that expired only when it became unreadable. The local government places the blame on—wait, you guessed it—these economic times.
