After last summer's neighborly tiff, East Hampton's Baker House Inn has prompted the village to close a code loophole regarding the definition of a single family residence. Last week, the village code was amended defining such a home 'as one that can only be rented on a nontransient basis, meaning for periods of at least one month or no more than two two-week intervals in one year'. The Main Street B&B was the subject of much scrutiny in June when neighbors on Meadow Way complained that a carriage house purchased by the hotel through an LLC was being advertised as additional guest rooms. That advertisement is now gone, as the rules have been changed to maintain peace on the streets.
