Trouble continues for Sagaponack's Poxabogue Golf Course, whose future remains a bit uncertain as a fight between Fairway restaurant and course management ensues. Sagaponack residents weighed in this month at a meeting about proposed upgrades to the East End institution, with many opposed to plans to expand the clubhouse and restaurant. The course is currently owned by both East Hampton and Southampton towns, but run by Long Island Golf Management, who hopes to upgrade the aging facility. LIGM has had a contentious relationship with Fairway's manager Dan Murray, a locally loved restauranteur whose contract is up in April. LIGM had planned to bring in Michael Avella of Mattituck's Love Lane Kitchen as head chef come spring, and Avella's application for a liquor license for the restaurant first prompted the towns take notice of the changes. At this point, it is still unclear who will run Fairway next season, though permits will likely be sought for an expansion of the kitchen and a new clubhouse office soon.
