All was quiet today at East Hampton's Sea Spray Cottages, the soon-to-be-rented oceanfront enclave off Main Beach. Longtime tenants were told to remove all of their belongings before November 30th, in anticipation of next year's auction of the village-owned homes. No longer given right of first refusal, renters pleaded with officials last week to give them more time, but the village maintains that it wants to open up the leases to the highest bidder, and level the playing field for all interested parties. With a 300 person waiting list, next spring's auction should be one for the ages.
