Dire times over at East Hampton's Guild Hall, as the theater has announced that it will shutdown for two separate weeks during the upcoming holiday season. Staff will be put on unpaid furlough owing to a $100,000 budget deficit. Things turned sour at the iconic performance space last spring, when the first signs of low ticket sales and scaled back donations were seen. That trend continued through the summer and created a seriously financial headache for the Main Street institution. Plans for 2010 include less overlapping programs and limited special events, as well as push to raise capital campaign funds for the remainder of the theater's $12.5 million renovation.
