The Madoff Wooden Ducks Go for $11,500 at Auction, More!

1) At Saturday's auction of Madoff family souvenirs, the wooden ducks made famous in the Ponzi schemer's Montauk home sold for a whopping $11,500. The three mallard 'decoys' were valued between $53 and $80 each. Elsewhere at the auction, a 'wood yard sign' from the Old Montauk Highway home inscribed with Madoff's initials and a street address marker went for $2,000, which the WSJ reported to be 'more than 100 times its low estimate of $18'. The auction itself was, of course, a rousing success, taking in over $1 million for victims of the scheme. [WSJ; previously]

2) Twitters did some good this weekend, organizing a East End TweetUp to fight hunger on Long Island. Despite the Tropical Storrm-induced weather, Panera Bread in Hampton Bays hosted a food drive on Saturday, collecting nearly 50 pounds of non-perishable goods. [LITweetUp]
