The boat of legendary Jaws inspiration Frank Mundus may be returned to Montauk after being bought at auction last year. New owner (and friend of the late shark hunter) Jon Dodd has offered to sell the vessel back to the village for a monument in honor of the area's fishing history, following the completion of its restoration. Dodd was unaware that plans were in place for such a monument when he submitted his winning bid, and is also considering donating the boat and recouping his investment through tax breaks.
