Actual Broker Wars: Elliman Sues BHS's Ackerman for $148K

The Real Deal reports that Brown Harris Stevens 'power broker' Andrea Ackerman has been sued by Prudential Douglas Elliman for $148,000 in back pay. Ackerman was employed by Elliman between April 2007 and March 2009 with an agreement to receive a draw of '$12,000 a month against future commissions'. Elliman alleges that upon her departure for BHS, Ackerman owed the firm $142,000 for 'draws and advances that had not been set off by commissions earned', as well as another $6,000 off a $50,000 signing bonus because she left the company within two years. For her part, Ackerman tells the site that her draw was cut off prior to the end of her contract, and that she 'had no choice' but to leave. She also says she was 'defamed', without explanation. We sense a battle royale ahead. Ackerman is a seasoned vet in the Hamptons real estate game, with big name listings dating back to her time at Dunemere Associates. She stayed on when BHS bought that firm in 2004 until her move to Elliman, and has since returned to the company.
