Sag Harbor's American Hotel will undergo a restoration likely beginning this winter and extending far into the future of the 163 year old building. Architect Kevin Wolfe seems unsure of the length of his approved renovation, telling the Express that the work will take either 'years' or be complete in Spring 2011. We applaud him for covering his bases. The masonry on all sides of the building will be restored and decorative elements will be repaired and replaced throughout the process. The front entrance of the hotel has apparently fallen victim to age and/or thieves in recent years, as a number of architectural elements have 'either fallen off or simply vanished'.
